Keyboard Wedge Configuration Test

This set of tests will check the configuration of your barcode scanner while running in keyboard wedge mode :-

Test 1 will check that your scanner is configured to respect Caps Lock, to read mixed case barcodes and to append a Carriage Return [ ASCII Chr(13) ] suffix

Test 2 will check that the speed your scanner reads at, is not set too high or too slow

Test 3 will check that your scanner can read the GS1 Group Separator [ ASCII Chr(29) ]

Test 4 will check that your scanner can read an inverse barcode

Test 5 will check that your scanner can read all the special characters allowed by GS1 AI encodable character set 82

This tool is made available to EMVS Users (“Users”) to perform five basic tests to identify if their scanners have potential issues with scanning Datamatrix codes in the scope of the Falsified Medicines Directive. It is important to note that this tool is provided for the Users’ convenience only. The tool is not validated nor certified by EMVO or the NVMOs. When using the tool, the Users need to always exercise due diligence and reasonable judgement. Although the tool offers guidance on their scanners’ configuration in order to avoid the generation of false positive alerts, the Users are solely responsible for deciding any particular course of action or omission or taking any decisions on this basis, with their IT Vendors. Validation of the scanners’ configuration and compliance with applicable legislation remains the responsibility of the User. Neither EMVO nor the NMVOs give and both expressly exclude any warranty of any kind, whether expressed or implied, statutory or otherwise, as to the condition, quality, performance, non-infringement, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the tool. Both EMVO and the NMVOs do not assume - and disclaim - any responsibility and/or liability with regard to the test results given by the tool and/or any decisions taken on this basis by the User and their consequences.
